By registering and in using the IRC Wall Bracing Calculator, I (hereafter
referred to as the User) agree to the following terms:
Scope of Calculations
'Calculator' is defined as any or all components of software provided by IRC
Wall Bracing LLC that perform computations for structural analysis. The
scope of the Calculator's core functionality is limited to particular
sections of R602.10 of the International Residential Code, R602.10 of the
North Carolina State Building Code, and chapter SPS 321 of the Wisconsin
Uniform Dwelling Code. The scope of the Calculator's engineered analysis is
limited to particular sections of the National Design Specifications for
Wood Construction (NDS), the Wood Frame Construction Manual (WFCM), and ASCE
7-10 load combinations. The Calculator is not intended for use with
structures that lie under the jurisdiction of other building codes.
Properties checked by the Calculator include, but are not limited to:
-
Amount of wall bracing required and provided for wind and seismic loads,
if applicable
- Wind and seismic adjustment factors
- Proximity of Braced Wall Panels to Braced Wall Lines
-
Minimum length of Braced Wall Panels, including partial credit when
applicable
-
Spacing between and number of Braced Wall Panels along Braced Wall Lines
- Mixing of wall bracing methods
Properties that are not checked by the Calculator include, but are not
limited to:
- Design considerations acting from story-to-story
- Cripple wall bracing
-
End conditions of Braced Wall Lines (e.g. returns, hold-down devices,
specific requirements for Seismic Design Categories D0, D1, and D2, etc.)
-
Presence and capacity of hold-down devices and/or tension straps as may be
required
- Connections
-
Seismic analysis for "irregular" buildings as defined by IRC section
R301.2.2.6.
The output results of the Calculator are informative only and are not
guaranteed for accuracy or completeness. Detailed results are provided so
the designer and building official may review and confirm the accuracy of
the wall bracing report as part of the plan review process. IRC Wall Bracing
does not provide guarantees or warranties of any kind regarding the accuracy
or completeness of calculations or wall bracing reports due in part to the
possibility of accidental or deliberate misuse of the Calculator, the
possibility for variations in interpretation of the building code, the
possibility of an unidentified bug in the Calculator, and the possibility
that the Calculator is used for unorthodox structures that do not meet the
intent of the wall bracing methodology of the building code. Please contact
IRC Wall Bracing when questions or discrepancies arise concerning the
contents of the report, especially if a calculation error is suspected. Any
Calculator function specified as "beta" indicates the function is still in
development and, though unlikely, carries increased risk of containing
errors. By using the Calculator, the User agrees that IRC Wall Bracing LLC
can not be held liable for the calculation outputs of the software including
the contents of the wall bracing report.
User Information
IRC Wall Bracing will not sell or distribute user information to third
parties. Upon registration, user information shall be complete and accurate.
IRC Wall Bracing reserves the right to terminate without refund user accounts
where the user profile contains false or misleading information.
User Content
Using the software requires uploading user content, namely structural plans.
IRC Wall Bracing is not responsible for the quality or appropriateness of
content uploaded by the User. IRC Wall Bracing will not sell or distribute
content uploaded by the User. However, the User acknowledges that IRC Wall
Bracing may feature the User's structural plans in publicly visible content,
such as demonstration videos or marketing material.
Appropriate Use
Attempts to undermine the stability or integrity of the Calculator may, at IRC
Wall Bracing’s discretion, result in loss of access to the User’s account
including any saved work and the forfeiture of any unused credits or the
remaining term of a license. The User understands that the Calculator is
primarily used for purposes related to structural safety and building code
compliance, and that the deliberate falsification of any data produced by the
Calculator may warrant civil and/or criminal penalties against the User in
accordance with the law.
Purchases
IRC Wall Bracing uses a third-party payment processing platform to manage
transactions. Credit card information is not collected and is not stored by
IRC Wall Bracing. IRC Wall Bracing assumes no responsibility for the security
of payments when making purchases.
All sales are final. All use of credits to redeem access to Calculator are
final, beginning at the time of uploaded floor plan. Use of credit provides
access to the Calculator for one floor plan for 120 days, after which time the
floor plan will become unavailable. An expiration time period for unused
credits is not in effect, however IRC Wall Bracing reserves the right to enact
an expiration period no less than 90 days from date of purchase.
User Access
The Calculator is not guaranteed to be available at all times. Server
maintenance, updates, outages, and other disruptions may temporarily prevent
access to the Calculator. In the event data is lost or corrupted, IRC Wall
Bracing provides no guarantee of data restoration.
